Discussion 44: What Is Your Work Ethic?

Job Club Heart of Texas | 18 comments

work′ eth`ic
n.

a belief in the moral benefit and importance of work and its inherent ability to strengthen character.
Work ethic? Do you have it?  You should always take pride in whatever type of work you do. Your work should reflect what you expect to get back from the company that you work for. If you are only giving half of your effort then you should reflect on if you are really happy to be there. If not then you should look for something you are passionate about. It’s not fair to you, your job, or the others that work with you when you only give 50% of your effort.  This is true whether you have a job or looking for work, because looking for work is your job.
Here are some questions to ask your self about when you are looking for the career that is right for you. You should get out something to write with and some paper (or in this case put into your response) :
  1. What is your relationship with the work that you have or wish to do?
  2. What are your  beliefs concerning what you should be giving and receiving from your work place?
  3. When you think of your job what are your feelings about the job that you do or want to do.
  4. Do you like your job?

Hoping everyone’s Mother’s Day weekend was amazing!

What is your relationship with the work that you have or wish to do? I am currently seeking a new career and would like a position with a company that offers a friendly environment. I would like to work for a company that appreciates a positive relationship that promotes longevity for employees.

What are your beliefs concerning what you should be giving and receiving from your work place? In the workplace it is important to me to give 100% of my concentration and receive appreciation for the time and effort put forth.

When you think of your job what are your feelings about the job that you do or want to do. I am apprehensive about finding a new job that will fulfill my expectations.

Do you like your job? I am currently unemployed.

    2. If you accept a person’s pay, you should give your very best, even if it’s a job that you don’t want to stay at or a career path that you feel is not right for you. You’ll create a work ethic that employer’s appreciate.

I believe it is very important to find what you love to do and pursue that in a career. When you are passionate about what you do, you are apt to give it your all.

What is your relationship with the work that you have or wish to do? I have always enjoyed this field, although certain jobs in the field more so than others.

What are your beliefs concerning what you should be giving and receiving from your work place? I try to give at least 100% and at times I give more. If I feel respected and appreciated I will go above and beyond the expectations set for me.

When you think of your job what are your feelings about the job that you do or want to do? I enjoy my new job. I realize it is important and what I do matters. Sometimes I wish I had more hours, but seeing as how that means someone is hurting, it is a mixed bag.

You need to be happy in your job. Otherwise, you’ll be miserable and make everyone else miserable. Always do the best you can.

What is your relationship with the work that you have or wish to do? I loved the job I had- I was a Radiation Therapist and took care of cancer patients- It is a very rewarding job knowing that I was helping people during one of the hardest times- fighting for their lives.

What are your beliefs concerning what you should be giving and receiving from your work place? I always treated my patients like I would treat my family.

When you think of your job what are your feelings about the job that you do or want to do. Right now- I’m missing the patient interaction- so I’m looking forward to finding another job.

Do you like your job? Loved it!!

My Mom and Dad always taught me about integrity and work ethics. An honest days pay for an honest days work, be honest, no matter what and be true to yourself. I have applied these teachings in all phases of my life. Unfortunately not all employers, live by the same standards. I wouldn’t cave and it cost me my job.

    1) I have been teaching engineering to fellow students for years for free. Now it would be very nice to get paid for it.
    2) I will be getting some money and a neat chance to fully try teaching to make sure I’m going to love it like I think I will.
    3) I have always enjoyed it before and I will enjoy the challenge.
    4) I will love it

1.What is your relationship with the work that you have or wish to do?

I would love to work for an organization that is making a difference in the lives of others. It is important to be a part of a positive work team–where everyone contributes his/her best to the team.
I also love having fun and building friendships at work, because these people can become like a second family to you.

2.What are your beliefs concerning what you should be giving and receiving from your work place?

I work best in an environment that gives clear objectives and boundaries. I have been involved in work situations where everyone had their hand in everyone’s work and that is very confusing and counterproductive.

3.When you think of your job what are your feelings about the job that you do or want to do.

I would love to be part of a postive working environment–where personalities get along.
    4.Do you like your job
I am currently searching for work.

There is a saying I like, “Do what you love and you will never work a day in your life”.
I really believe this. Money is important but if you hate what you do, all the money in the world won’t make you happy.
