Job Club Alamo Area | 2 comments

When we look for work there are times that we are so focused on a job that we gloss over the little things that might help us land that job. Are your shoes scuffed? Did you print your resume on resume paper? Maybe a new haircut or color is in order? Do you have a thank you note ready to send to the employers? Are you keeping busy by volunteering or networking? Are you still in touch with your references?  Try checking your cover letter for any mistakes. There are so many things that could boost our chance of getting a job that really make a world of difference. Is everything ready for you?

I’m not sure what is meant by networking. I have a LinkedIn account, but I’m not sure what to do. I don’t have the money to get a premium account, so I make do with the basic one.
With so much of the job search being through jobsites like Indeed.com, how can I send a thank you note. Or does that happen after an interview?

Networking basically means to make friends that help your career. You are meeting and talking to people with the understanding that they will help you in some way. The easiest thing for you to do with your linked in account is to join one of the clubs and just start making friends. You’ll add contacts and they will add you.
