Discussion 23: Happy Holidays

Job Club Heart of Texas, Job Search, Uncategorized | 75 comments

To start this discussion we would like to give the most up to date answer we have received regarding UI Benefits from the Heart Of Texas Workforce Center:”You can still make your payment request on your scheduled day even if that day is the 29th , 30th, or 31st.”We want to be sure you understand the above statement does not guarantee you will receive benefits.

The following is a piece of news regarding this situation:

“Unemployment Extension News Update 12/18/12: The National Employment Law Project (NELP) reports that Representatives Sander Levin (D-MI) and Lloyd Doggett (D-TX) joined with Senator Jack Reed (D-RI) and unemployed workers at a press conference to implore Congress to renew federal unemployment insurance before it expires on Dec. 29 – regardless of whether a deal is made on the fiscal cliff.”

On another note, we have a couple of Job Fairs coming up after the New Year. January’s job fair will concentrate on the Food Service industry and February’s job fair will be open to any type of business.

Two things to remember: First, make sure that your WorkinTexas profile is up-to-date and Second, don’t forget to upload your resume to your Campusjobxpress.com profile. We will be sure to provide more information as we get closer to the event date. Stay Tuned! If you have any questions please ask and we will continue to get you the most accurate answers as quickly as possible. Everyone have a wonderful holiday and for those who will be traveling, be safe. MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!

NOTE FROM THE PAGE ADMINISTRATORS: As a side note we will not be in the office from Dec. 21st -Jan 2nd. There will be a job club for the next week, but we will not be available in person at the Workforce Solutions Center until Jan. 2nd. Once again have a safe and happy holidays!

I received something in the mail stating that since I received only partial payments since I have been working part time the entire time I may be eligible to receive an extension on my benefits (if approved). I filled out the form and faxed it in. We will see. I wish everyone well who went to the Job Fair or the upcoming one after the New Year. I took my last final exam for the semester last night. I’ll have the same school schedule in three weeks when school starts right back up. Not much of a break, but I plan to make the most of it. I have the opportunity to see family and that’s what it is all about. Please everyone be safe during your Holiday Season whether you believe in Christmas, Kwanza, Hanukah (although it is now past), something else, or nothing at all, please be safe and blessed! Thank you Melvin, Rachel, et. al for the Holiday wishes!

Well we received a Christmas miracle this week
The doctors had told my wife that she would have to have dialysis for the rest of her life.
We told the doctors that we were going to leave that fait to God after four sessions of dialysis and 39 pounds of fluid later her Kidney began to work at a level that was acceptable.
The doctors could not understand how this could happen, but we knew.
She is at home now and I would like to thank everyone that had us on their prayer list.
I received notice today that I have exhausted all my unemployment benefits and could contact 211 for assistants.
Something will come soon and we know who will provide it.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYONE, AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

Called in my pay request (for the two weeks beginning on December 9th and ending on December 22nd) today and a recording said that my next pay request for the week beginning December 23rd and ending on December 29th would be on the 2nd of January. I guess that that means I will be paid for one more week!?!? I GUESS!!!!!

Anyway, I hope that the new year will bring peace and hope for the entire world.
