Discussion 28: Help us find employers!

Job Club Heart of Texas, Job Search | 60 comments

We continue to attempt to help everyone find employment, so, remember there is a Food Service Job Fair Thursday, January 24th at the Waco Workforce Center from 9 to 12 noon. This job fair includes manager positions. Please plan to attend to explore all opportunities plus it is good practice.

On February 13th, 2013, get ready for the “My Heart For A Job Fair,” a full and open job fair, at the Red Men Museum next to the Waco Workforce Center. On the same day, there will be an Employer Showcase which gives those who match employer requirements a chance for a face-to-face interview.

Next, we are interested in which employers interest you and those employers you would like us to investigate for employment opportunities. Many of you have said employers are not responding to your applications for employment. We will ask them those questions you want answered. Tell us the employer, the question you may have and the answers will be posted as soon as we get them.

Always let us know your thoughts about how you may be better served. Are you ready for the Job Fairs? Then, put on your smile and your interview gear and letʼs make it happen.

Looking forward to the job fair on the 13th, but I hope to find my niche before that. I have sent out a multitude of applications and resumes. Most of the time I receive an automated email acknowledging that they received my materials. Most of the time I never hear anything further.
I did receive a very polite rejection the other day.

    Good morning everyone!

    Thanks for the info.

I had an interesting phone interview last week. It was a follow-up on an application that I had submitted last July. I guess some employers really don’t toss all applications in the “round file” when a specific position is filled. Nothing definite, yet.

    Have a blessed day.

What information do you have on free tax service? I am looking for somebody to file my taxes since the usual person that did them has retired. This is the first time I have so many w-2 forms this year and it is confusing to say the least. (jann page)

Thanks Sherrie for the headsup on the medical clerical position. I will, l definately, check it out! It’s good to know that some employers don’t throw out job apps in “file 13”! I’m waiting like everyone about what companies will be present at the job fair on the 24th. In the meantime, keep your heads up! This is Ionia Jones, signing off!

Thank you. Unfortunately my few job searches a week won’t cut it anymore. I need to step it up even more. My part-time job is not working out so great. TWC verified my wages and my employer apparently forgot (I told them initially I had been receiving unemployment). Anyway, I will no longer (as of today) be paid when clients no show or cancel their appointments. I previously had a job making $7 an hour more (in Fort Worth) where those were the conditions. I took this one because I would be paid if they no showed or cancelled and I would no longer be wasting the gas. Please let me know if you see anything for Licensed Professional Counselors. Right now all I’ve seen is for Cenikor (but they really prefer those with more experience working with Substance Abuse) and a job in Stephenville, which is 2 hours in the wrong direction. Thanks,

    Angela

Michael Dutton–I see you are looking for management positions. Have you checked in to the new company locating in McGregor in the old Smead building. It is Benhel Equipment and they are looking for management positions. I’m not sure how to locate them or if they have postings on any job boards.
